“Special categories” is code for a few specific items I feel deserve more attention than being lumped in with an entire room. The three categories we’re focusing on here – books, papers, and digital clutter – are all things that easily grow out of control and become so overwhelming that we turn a blind eye to them.
Essential Oils for Health and Beauty
The products we put in our bodies and onto our skin become a part of us. Moving toward a simpler, more natural system for your body will help ensure your overall health. I have teamed up with essential oil expert Lindsay Luker of Good Leaf Life, a “guide to understanding the ingredients & solutions provided by nature to help you live peacefully & naturally”.
Decluttering Shared Spaces
Creating a home you love means having the general areas of the home that you spend the most time in be as intentional and chaos-free as possible. The shared areas of the house get a lot of traffic, often with a number of people contributing to the state of the space. These areas benefit from organization specific to their functions.
Yoga For Your Heart And Soul Part One: The Yamas
The greatest gifts of yoga go far beyond the postures we do in classes. This is your opportunity to learn and apply these ancient teachings in your own life. When I trained to become a yoga teacher I was introduced to yoga as a full philosophy. The depth of the teachings of yoga blew me away and I immediately knew I needed to share this information with everyone beyond the yoga mat.
Decluttering Your Closet
Are Your Thoughts Helpful or Harmful?
Helpful or harmful? You get to decide which thoughts earn space in your mind. There’s a lot of extraneous thinking going on out there. Worries about things we can’t control or change. Nasty thoughts about other people that don’t fix anything. Taking responsibility for the choices of others whom we can’t control, fix or change.
Decluttering Your Bathroom
The bathroom can be deceptive. Unless there’s a ton of stuff all over the counters it doesn’t look like a clutter collector. The clutter is generally well hidden in drawers, cabinets and the linen closet. The categories that come along with the bathroom need to be attended to for clutter reasons as well as health reasons.
Yoga for Anxiety
You’ve probably heard how calming yoga is. Someone in your life, maybe even you, has said how good she feels after yoga. How relaxed, ready to meet the world, grounded, and centered she feels. Did you know there’s science behind that? Breathwork and yoga postures (asanas) can calm the sympathetic nervous system, a branch of the autonomic nervous system that becomes active during times of stress.
Decluttering Your Kitchen with the Basics
Why does the kitchen become so cluttered? There are a bunch of reasons. Food is so central to our lives that we spend a lot of time in our kitchens. Things from other rooms easily get deposited in the kitchen on tables and counters. Maybe gnomes come in during the night and throw stuff around. Hey, you don’t know.
What the Heck is a Chakra and What Do I Do with Them?
This is what I wondered at one time. As with most things as I learned about chakras I wasn’t going to believe in this particular hocus-pocus without evidence of some sort. But the more I learned the more I realized it wasn’t so much evidence as it was awareness that I received. Awareness of myself, my moods, my needs, my mind, my heart, my body… Yeah, that’s how powerful understanding chakras can be.
