A clear floor is a glorious thing. Unfortunately, floors, being the flat surfaces they are, collect stuff almost as easily as a table or counter. Gather the items that habitually end up scattered on the floor and separate them into their own categories in baskets or bins. Motley crew of shoes at the front door? A large basket is a great way to keep them contained, and you never have to line up shoes again.
Stop Drinking Caffeine After 2PM to Improve Sleep and Reduce Anxiety
I know 2pm seems awfully early in the day when you have so much to do. Caffeine agitates your central nervous system and stays in you for a while so if you suffer from anxiety or have a hard time sleeping you need to give yourself a break from the stuff that makes you vibrate. The great side effect to doing this is your body will become less accustomed to the caffeine after a while and you’ll actually get more impact from your morning coffee. Better nights and better mornings, how can you say no to that?
Avoid Displaying Items From Old Relationships
Count How Many Judgements You Make in a Day
Still have your counter from your ‘Should Awareness Day’? Great, we’re going to use it again. Click every time you think or speak a judgement. Positive or negative. Yup. “That couch is pretty” is a judgement just as much as “that couch is ugly”. Noticing how often you have a judgement or opinion of yourself and the world around you will help you be more mindful of how you choose to be.
Clean and Disinfect Small Items With a Laundry Bag and The Dishwasher
Little things around the house that you really don’t relish washing by hand like Legos, mason jar lids, etc., can easily be tossed into a laundry bag for delicates (the dollar store is a great place to get these) and washed on a regular cycle in your dishwasher. Just make sure you take plastic items like those Legos out before the heat dry so you don’t melt them.
Do Something by Yourself to Reconnect to The Relationship With Yourself
Go to lunch by yourself. See a movie. Take a road trip. Go camping. Spend a night (or 3) at a spa. Take a weekend in a Bed and Breakfast in a cute town. Fly to a city you’ve never been to. Even go out of the country by yourself on your own adventure. I spent 2 weeks traveling Europe by myself at age 22 and it was the most important experience I had up to that point in my life. Every woman I talk to who takes this advice and does something just outside her comfort zone has always reported back a similar experience of self-connection, confidence, and opening.
Start Your Decluttering Journey by Getting Rid of The Trash First
Before you go trying to organize your pantry or declutter your closet take care of that first layer of clutter: trash. Grab a trash bag and start walking room to room picking up anything that is obvious garbage. Wrappers, receipts, empty boxes, water bottles…you know the stuff I’m talking about. There simply isn’t any point in trying to tidy your home until the first layer that we turn a blind eye to is gone.
Lose Weight and Improve Digestion With Mindful Eating
Watching TV, scrolling through your phone, reading a book, or simply shoveling your food in without tasting it are all ways to guarantee you’ll eat more than you want and not even enjoy your food. Slow down and be present with your food. Turn off technology, step away from your desk, put your book away and sit down at the table to eat. One bite at a time. Set your fork down between bites. Chew more than 5 times. Notice your food. Give your stomach time to tell your brain when it’s full. It might feel awkward at first, but I promise you’ll get used to it and never be too full again.
